Death Indexes is one of several very useful websites provided by Joe Beine, and probably the most visited.
From the Website: “This website is a directory of links to websites with online death indexes, listed by state and county. Included are death records, death certificate indexes, death notices, and registers, obituaries, wills and probate records, and cemetery burials. You can also find information here about searching the Social Security Death Index online.”
The site then presents links to all 50 states in the United States, plus DC. When visiting a site page, you are presented with links in four types of sections: state-level collections; county-level collections; collections for very large cities (not in all states); and where you can order State Vital Records. For example, for Illinois, the section headings are:
- Online Illinois Death Records Indexes and Cemetery Burials
- Illinois Death Records Indexes, Obituaries and Cemeteries by County
- Chicago and Cook County Death Indexes, Records and Obituaries
- Ordering Illinois Vital Records
Mr. Beine also has created a similar state-level website for naturalization records and other Genealogy categories on his “Online Genealogy Records and Resources” page.
