The FamilySearch Digital Library essentially is the place for books. FamilySearch identifies it in a more detailed fashion: “Over 500,000 genealogy books, family histories, maps, yearbooks, and more.”
Partner libraries have shared parts of their collections with FamilySearch. They are major libraries in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. You can search the Digital Library by entering a combination (or just one) of Keyword, Title, Subject, and/or Author.
Search results are displayed. There are two types of results to viewing the digitized book or document. If the publication is protected (generally because of copyright restrictions), then you cannot view the publication online and are only shown a snippet. The other option is that you can view the entire publication, at which time you can browse through it page-by-page as you desire. It operates much like the Google Books website.
